LICENCES AND CAR TAX

Driving Licences use the Post Office's easy checking service To find the nearest Post Office™ branch that offers the Photocard Driving Licence Premium Service, simply follow the link and enter your postcode and choose ‘Search’. Alternatively ring 08457 223344 (Welsh language helpline 08457 468469).

International Driving Permits - A UK International Driving Permit (IDP) is an internationally recognised document, allowing the holder to drive a private motor vehicle when accompanied by a valid UK driving licence.

Holders of Channel Islands, Isle of Man or any foreign licence should call the AA on 08705 500 600 for guidance.

Car Tax - If you own a vehicle and use it on the road then you will need a car tax disc (also known as a motor vehicle licence).

Ways to apply:

1. Find your nearest branch or call us on 08457 22 33 44*
2. By post - from one of the addresses listed on the leaflet "Registering and Licensing your Motor Vehicle" (V100). This leaflet is available from your local Post Office® branch.

Rod Fishing Licence - If you are over 12 years old and you want to fish for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England, Wales or the Border Esk Region in Scotland, you must have a valid licence. You can get an Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence from Picton Street Post Office® in England, Wales and postcode areas; DG11, DG13, DG14, DG16, TD8 & TD9.
